April Wrap Up

in , by Kailia Sage, April 30, 2020
I can't believe that April is over! I had a pretty good reading month and I was able to read the same number of books this month as last month! I was really excited that I'm still ahead on my Goodreads challenge (I'm at 86 books by the time April 30th is over!).
I will be very honest when I admit that I was hesitant to begin this series. Eight bucks just seemed like a lot of a commitment to make but I have heard so many good things about the series that I figured it was time to give it a go. Plus, Netflix is making this into a series and I really really wanted to read the books before watching the show.

I will have to say that I am beyond glad that I decided to read the series. I absolutely love the Bridgertons and everyone who recommends this series for a reason. The family is large and boisterous and loving. The banter between the siblings is off the wall leading me to laugh throughout. Even if I didn’t love all of the romances in this series, I fell head over heels in love with the family. So here are the reviews for all eight of the books in the Bridgertons series by Julia Quinn!

This post features the reviews for the last two books in the series! Check out the end of the post for links to reviews of the entire series!

I thought I'd share some reviews for a few weeks that I've read recently. I have reviews for a few series going on in the next few weeks but wanted something to tide the blog over before then.

What's In A Quote {1}

in , by Kailia Sage, April 08, 2020
As an avid reader, when I come across a quote in a book that really speaks to me, I immediately write it down so I can look back on it. I often refer back to my favorite and most meaningful quotes when I am going through something rough. Books often hold so much of the wisdom I need to make myself feel better so I thought that this would be the perfect time to share some words of wisdom on this blog!

**UPDATE: The original quote posted here was a quote by J.K. Rowling. I have chosen to remove that quote from my blog as she continues to be an incredibly problematic author. I posted the quote because of nostalgia and its meaning to me but I don't want to perpetuate harm by continuing to support her.**

March 2020 Wrap Up

in , by Kailia Sage, April 04, 2020
Hi all! Even though this blog just began a few days ago, I figured it wouldn't hurt to talk about all the books I read in March! I read an substantial number of books and novellas and my total number was astounding! I don't think I've ever read this many in a month before! So, lets get into the post!

Welcome!

It feels surreal to be writing this post. Ten years ago, I wrote a post similar to this when I began my first ever blog. At the time I was only fourteen years old, lonely and a lover of books. Even though some things have changed (I’m not fourteen or as lonely) but others have not (I’m still in the same bedroom as when I was fourteen and I still love books).

I have been blogging since 2009 across several blogs. While I’ve had a personal blog for a few years where I shared my thoughts on the books I read, I didn’t have a specific place for that. So, today, I’m going to change that. My first blog, called Life According to a Bibliophile (formally Reading the Best of the Best), still exists but I’ve made it private. I haven’t found the courage to delete it off the internet yet.

If there is one major difference between my first blog about books to this one is how my reading tastes have changed. For one, I only read Young Adult books for a very long time. It wasn’t until I went to college where I made the move to adult books simply because I didn’t think I should be reading them. For the past few years, however, I’ve changed to pretty much only reading adult books (especially adult romance).

And that’s what the majority of this blog will be focused on: adult books in various genres. I’m trying to branch out and read more genres that I normally don’t:

• Thrillers
• Urban fantasy and paranormal
• Fantasy of all kinds
• Science fiction
• True crime
• Mysteries

Of all of these genres, thrillers are the ones I’m most worried about because I really don’t like anything that could scare me. And when I tell y’all that I’m scared easily, it’s not a joke. But either way, I’m very excited to see all the new books I’ll find.

I do still read Young Adult and I will write about some of these titles on this blog but those will probably be few and far between.

This long-winded introduction post is just a taste of what’s to come. Even though I also have a YouTube channel, I find that writing has always been my preferred way to share my thoughts. I hope that you’ll join me on this new (and old) adventure.
