She is the most powerful woman in Britain,
A queen of the London Underworld...
But no one can ever know.
He is the only man smart enough to uncover the truth,
Putting all she has at risk... Including her heart.

The fourth book in New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean’s incredible Rule of Scoundrels/Fallen Angels series. These four dark heroes will steal the hearts of their heroines and the readers alike! This is the last in the Rules of Scoundrels series—Chase’s story

By day, she is Lady Georgiana, sister to a Duke, ruined before her first season in the worst kind of scandal. But the truth is far more shocking—in London’s darkest corners, she is Chase, the mysterious, unknown founder of the city’s most legendary gaming hell. For years, her double identity has gone undiscovered... until now.

Brilliant, driven, handsome-as-sin Duncan West is intrigued by the beautiful, ruined woman who is somehow connected to a world of darkness and sin. He knows she is more than she seems and he vows to uncover all of Georgiana’s secrets, laying bare her past, threatening her present, and risking all she holds dear... including her heart.
I was beyond excited to get read this book. After the amazing reveal in the previous book about Chase, I was eager to get my hands on Never Judge a Lady be Her Cover. At the end of the day, I've come to realize that this series by Sarah MacLean isn't one of my favorites. As much as I wanted to love this story--there were so many aspects of this story that were amazing--I found myself not satisfied.

As we know from the previous three books, four former members of high London society have come together to create a casino that exits for the people who spurned them. Georgiana/Chase is arguably the most mysterious of the four but it's finally time to tell his--or her--tale. Revealing that Chase is Georgiana, the sister of a Duke, and a woman who fell from grace because she became pregnant out of wedlock at the age of 16. In all the ways it's possible, I loved that Sarah MacLean shed light on how the actions of many men in high society doesn't hold the same level of acceptance is a woman of high society do them. A man sleeps with women out of wedlock and gets a woman pregnant? He's not the one to blame! A woman does that and she's ruined. But I love that Georgiana/Chase doesn't let this stop her. MacLean makes it clear that she is strong and able and willing to do whatever it takes to survive in a society that won't let her flourish.

I really wanted to love this romance. There was something so sweet about Duncan and Georgiana's love story but at the end of the day, I was frustrated many times. For one, the reader knows who Chase really is but Duncan doesn't and this is what causes so many issues in the story. Georgiana/Chase doesn't tell Duncan the truth about her identity and I couldn't really understand why. I mean, yes, I get it if she takes some times before she told Duncan the truth but what was the point of dragging it out? For two such incredibly smart and strong characters, who like to pull off the "I don't really care"s stance, they really cared about how this would play out. All I could think about was Georgiana/Chase telling Duncan the truth and they could ride off into the sunset.
